listening

Today, after having enjoyed a hearty meal and before our English class, I listened to a piece of news on Breaking News English that made me contemplative. It was about a new law that may ban listening to iPods on New York streets. Apparently, if you're "lost in iPod oblivion" whilst trying to cross the street, your life might be highly endangered.

My only question is: Will governments soon even decide to fine us if we don't look both ways before crossing the street?

There were two useful pieces of vocabulary:

outlaw-to make something illegal or unacceptable-The new law will outlaw smoking in public places.
gadgetry-small devices or machines with a particular purpose-We've got a juicer, a blender, a coffee grinder-in fact all manner of kitchen gadgetry.
